Mathematics is based on addition, multiplication (repeated addition), and exponentiation (repeated multiplication). What operations result when we continue this pattern, and what are their properties? And what about when we extend in the other direction? In this talk we will enjoy thinking together about the properties of operations “simpler than addition,” as well as their potential applications.
