About This Event
The WVU College of Creative Arts and Media will once again host the annual outdoor Independence Day Concert by the Morgantown Municipal Band on Friday, July 4, 2026, at 11:00 am. The concert will be performed in front of the Canady Creative Arts Center located on the Evansdale Campus of West Virginia University in Morgantown, across the street from the WVU Coliseum. The Morgantown Municipal Band will be conducted this year by John Hendricks, retired associate dean of the College of Creative Arts and Media and professor emeritus with the WVU School of Music.
The program will include music by John Philip Sousa, Irving Berlin, Cohan, Joplin, and others. Traditional classics like “America, The Beautiful”, “a tribute to the Armed Forces, and “The Stars and Stripes Forever” will be included.
The concert is free. Patrons are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets, sun protection, and water. In the event of inclement weather, the concert will be moved indoors to the Lyell B. Clay Concert Theater. Parking is available in the parking lots in front of the Canady Creative Arts Center.
