Disclaimer: Lessons and Learning Opportunities
Ski Lessons Disclaimer: Adventure WV does not provide ski lessons during our ski trips. For professional instruction, consider lessons through either Timberline Mountain Resort (Timberline Mountain – Ski & Snowboard Lessons) or Wisp Resort (Wisp Resort – Ski & Snowboard Lessons).
Learning Opportunities:
If you’re new to skiing or snowboarding, both Timberline Mountain Resort and Wisp Resort offer excellent learners’ areas to practice and build skills. While Adventure WV does not offer formal lessons, take advantage of these opportunities to enhance your experience on the slopes.
If going solo for the first time, consider bringing a friend. Otherwise, please reach out to us and we can look to partner you up with other skiers! While we cannot provide lessons, if you are nervous about going alone, our staff are happy to help acclimate you to the resort. Just let us know if you would like some additional support.
WHAT TO BRING ON YOUR TRIP:
Unless otherwise noted, our programs take place outdoors, so please check the forecast and be prepared to be outside. Open-toed shoes are not permitted on most programs, with the exception of kayaking, canoeing, and rafting programs. You can find our packing lists for all of our trips, here. Your Guides will email you a packing list a week before your trip if specific equipment or clothing is required, so please monitor your email closely. For most trips, essential equipment (tents, bikes, boats, etc.) is provided.
SKI GEAR INFORMATION:
For our ski trips to Timberline, all participants must wear appropriate winter clothing. This includes waterproof jackets, pants, gloves, and hats. See a recommended packing list here. If you do not have your own ski gear, you can rent equipment (skis, boots, poles, etc.) from the resort or from Adventure WV. Reservations must be done in person for fitting and are first-come, first-serve. Please visit our winter equipment rental page here for more details.
GETTING THERE/TRANSPORTATION:
Note that Adventure WV provides transportation for Timberline trips from the Outdoor Rental Center at the Student Recreation Center on Evansdale. Please note that the PRT does not open until 9:30 am on Saturdays and is closed on Sundays. If needed, we can arrange pick-ups at the Mountain Lair. For that arrangement, please email AWVGuidedTrips@mail.wvu.edu.
If you have any issues registering for this program, please come register in person during our open hours at the Outdoor Rental Center in the Student Recreation Center.
